Village Conversations

 The third annual Muff Féile took place in the village over the past weekend. The fun all started on Wednesday 29th July with the inaugural Charity Football Match - Wallace v Doherty, where the Squealing Pig took on The Ardmore Bar. A fun game was had with maybe a few too many players on the pitch by the end of the game. But it was all in jest and all raising money for our local school, Scoil Naomh Bríd. School Principal, Mr Foster, was a great sport and played the match too. He may have been on the losing side, but there really were NO losers as all money raised goes towards the school - final amount will be announced soon. Thursday saw the Treasure Hunt get underway where 25+ cars embarked on the quest around the village. Apparently my own house is one of 'the wise', and a 'hoot' of folk visited my door hunting down the owls throughout the evening.   Liam Harkin - Unsung Hero Muff Féile 2026 Earlier today Muff Féile Chairman presented our Unsung Hero for 2026 with his official certificate at the Country Games space.  An integral part of Muff community, Liam has played a quiet, but vital role of community, in so many roles for endless years. From the Youth Club to Muff Festival, and now Muff Féile, he's always there supporting, helping, guiding, and being a part of the very essence that is Muff. Emma McLaughlin said of Liam, "A fluorescent jacket flapping in the breeze as the bunting goes up. Signs carefully put in place. A catchup with the amusements crew, marquees rising.
