Happy Birthday Tank & Skinny's

The first coffee shop in Muff was a pop-up for ‘one day only’ at McColgans Butchers . Myself Gráinne McCool, and Teresa Cregan, had talked often about the need for a coffee shop in the village. Local butcher Thomas suggested we come into his shop one day and he’d show us a coffee shop – and he did. True to his word, on January 29 th 2014, over two years before Edward and Shane had the idea (just saying lads), Thomas brought some fresh scone, butter and jam, and made myself and Teresa coffee, (wee drop of whiskey too) in his butcher shop. He had the chairs for us also. That day, Teresa, myself, Thomas and Connor talked about the need for a coffee shop in the village. We knew back then that it was just what Muff needed. So, we were the first crew to get excited when the news broke that two brothers from the Buncrana area were opening a coffee shop in Muff. Many folk said it would never work. Ah ha, but we knew better. When Tank & Skinny’s opened those doors on Friday 31...

Muff Féile Football Classic

The World Cup is over, but the match of 'summer 26' is still to come. The inaugural Muff Féile Football Classic takes place this coming Wednesday night from 7pm. The QPS pitch will host the game and it's going to be Squealing Pig v Ardmore Bar . The two managers going head-to-head will be - Paddy Doherty for The Pig, and Simon Wallace for The Ardmore. Need we say more. And there will be the referee to beat all others - the legend that is Golly G. All's fair in love and war, or rather bar and bar!! The lads have successfully recruited a varied number of players (both male and female) to play in this charity match on Wednesday. And most important of all, money raised on the night is ALL going towards our local primary school, Scoil Naomh Bríd. It could get messi/messy, but it will be great craic. It's time to bring fun back into the village and the 3rd annual Muff Féile is destined to do just this - starting with Doherty v Wallace ; Pig v Ardmore. Just who will come...

Tank & Skinny to do Inishowen 100

As we fast approach the 10th birthday of Tank & Skinny's here in Muff, we also fast approach the mammoth task that Edward and Shane are about to undertake. The brothers are set to cycle 70% of the Inishowen 100 route and run the final 30% on Friday 31st July. As they arrive back in Muff mid-late afternoon on the day it will be to a huge welcome we do hope. The lads are using the decade celebration to raise money for two fabulous charities -  Laura Lynn  and  Friends of Inishowen Cancer Support . Their gofundme can be found here -  Go Fund Me . Every euro donated will help someone going forward.  It's impossible to imagine our wee village without this coffee shop now so it's up to us to support this worthy task that the lads are undertaking. And then of course it will be up to us to go enjoy coffee and fun at the coffee shop on the lads arrival back on Friday afternoon. Rumour has it there will be a BBQ. Whoopee!!  So it really is time to start pla...

Point Coffee opens this coming Tuesday in QP

Earlier today the new coffee shop in Quigley’s Point welcomed some family and friends for a taster and viewing of the new premises. It was a delight to be part of that taster and welcome. Although very much settled in Muff, I am and will always be a Quigley's Point gal at heart, so this coffee shop is a special one for myself here at Craic On Muff.  Point Coffee is due to open its doors to the public on Tuesday 21 st July at 7am. It will allow the village of Quigley’s Point and those passing by to fuel up on coffee at dawn, and be fully awake come the morning rush hour of work, family, and day-to-day life. Being the first coffee shop in Quigley’s Point there is undoubtedly much excitement about this opening. Local business, neighbours and friends all popped in today for a nosey. And no one was disappointed. You will find a lovely seating area within. As all is new it’s got that lovely newness feel to it, and yet the smell of coffee makes it feel homely. You will find...

Dene Harley completes Mizen Head to Malin Head - Miles for Minds

He set off running just 10 days ago from Mizen Head in Cork. His mission (Miles for Minds) to raise awareness on Mental Health. His fund raising going towards ' Foyle Sea and Rescue ' and 'Men's Action Network '. Harley arrived at Malin Head shortly before 10pm tonight. An agonising last few hours, but he never gave up. As he passed through Muff at lunchtime today, the last leg of the charity run was well underway. But that last leg is always the tough one. The hill at Quigley's Point proved tough this afternoon, and then as he ploughed up that lane to Banbas Crown tonight one would never have thought this guy has just run the length of Ireland but he did. As he stood at the top of Ireland tonight Dene talked about his reasons for doing this run. He simply said, 'Speak up'. He continued, 'I was struggling on day 4 and 5; I told people, and look I had people coming down to me travelling for hours, I've had numerous messages supporting me.......
