Community Spirit at Muff Féile 2026

 The third annual Muff Féile took place in the village over the past weekend. The fun all started on Wednesday 29th July with the inaugural Charity Football Match - Wallace v Doherty, where the Squealing Pig took on The Ardmore Bar. A fun game was had with maybe a few too many players on the pitch by the end of the game. But it was all in jest and all raising money for our local school, Scoil Naomh Bríd. School Principal, Mr Foster, was a great sport and played the match too. He may have been on the losing side, but there really were NO losers as all money raised goes towards the school - final amount will be announced soon.

Thursday saw the Treasure Hunt get underway where 25+ cars embarked on the quest around the village. Apparently my own house is one of 'the wise', and a 'hoot' of folk visited my door hunting down the owls throughout the evening. After a very close call, the event was won by 'Mothers and Daughters'. 

Then Friday saw the Opening Parade take over main street and with a host of floats and more, it was a spectacle indeed. Congrats to the overall winners 'Spar, Muff' with their 'I'm a Celebrity' float, and to Warren View Manor and The WRITE STUFF Kids Club on winning 'most humorous' on the night also with 'Biker Crew at Warren View'. Everyone put such effort into this parade and it really did pay off for all spectating. 


Saturday and Sunday saw people coming out and enjoying amusements, Country Games, Family sports and so much more. Buskers played along the village streets. Fun entertainment permeated the bars by night, and a community coming together was paramount. Runners came from all around for the 5K. 

From Bonny Babies to Cycling Grandads, the weekend really did have a host of fun for all. Craft fair, Bake-Off, Art, Poetry, Culture and Heritage, it was awash over the past weekend. Family and friends met up, strangers became friends, and a real feel-good community spirit was felt everywhere. Not forgetting the 'Unsung Hero' for 2026, Liam Harkin - such a deserved recipient. 


Deborah (manager at Muff Hall) commented on a social post that 'around every corner you found something different.' That's the kind of experience that was hoped to be found by all. Another business person said, 'If I win the lotto I'll move to Muff because of the Community spirit and the people I've met this weekend.' Great feedback to get.

As the ceili rounded off Sunday night, so the village streets quietened slightly (until after hours of course and everyone headed for home once more.)

Monday saw the children's disco take place and the night rounded off with the big 'Feile draw' where local girl, Maggie Anthony, won the cruise. A very deserved winner indeed.

There's lots more that took place over the past weekend and this is just a snippet. But whatever you took part in this Féile weekend or whatever you spectated at, we hope you had the best time.

Congratulations to all the committee and thank you to each and every volunteer who came along to help. You make the weekend what it is, and it was a good 'un. 

Here's to doing it all again next year.

Mura gets ready for retirement!

  In just over one weeks’ time, our village will have another retiree. A retiree who has given so much to Muff. He moved to Muff from neighbouring Fahan in 1989. Although working in the village prior to this, Mura McLaughlin has long since established himself as a permanent fixture, community member and one of the hardest working members of Muff village. Mura was a Customs Man from 1981 through to 1992. He then proceeded on a career with Irish Life. In the early 90’s Mura began volunteering in the village and was always there to lend a hand at the preparation and delivery of festivals and more. And of course you could find him on the dramatic stage too. In 2007 Mura began working with what is now Muff Community Development. And in 2011 he became manager there. Mura has a team of committee members behind him and a team of workers alongside him, but he himself has been instrumental in much of the development that has taken place in our community in the past 25 years. Point Coffee opens this coming Tuesday in QP

  Earlier today the new coffee shop in Quigley’s Point welcomed some family and friends for a taster and viewing of the new premises. It was a delight to be part of that taster and welcome. Although very much settled in Muff, I am and will always be a Quigley's Point gal at heart, so this coffee shop is a special one for myself here at Craic On Muff.  Point Coffee is due to open its doors to the public on Tuesday 21 st July at 7am. It will allow the village of Quigley’s Point and those passing by to fuel up on coffee at dawn, and be fully awake come the morning rush hour of work, family, and day-to-day life. Being the first coffee shop in Quigley’s Point there is undoubtedly much excitement about this opening. Local business, neighbours and friends all popped in today for a nosey. Christmas Dance at Muff Community Hall with Shunie Crampsey

 There really is something magical watching people dancing. From contemporary songs to the very traditional 'Shoe the Donkey', it was all things dancing this Sunday night. The people of Muff and far beyond showcased true magic on the dancefloor tonight at St. Mary's Hall here in the village.  Shunie Crampsey has been providing the music and song here in the community hall monthly for the past 18+ months. Tonight was the Christmas dance and it showcased the importance of music and dance for the soul. People coming together to sit and listen, to get up and dance, to just talk. And a fabulous supper was enjoyed by all, catered by The Cabin.  Events like this show what community is all about. And the community within the village hall tonight felt very strong and very festive. People came from all over Inishowen and Derry to enjoy the dance. And no doubt will return in the future to do likewise. Huge thanks must go to all the members of Muff hall who work hard behind the scene...
